Measuring principle:

A glass rotameter adopts a vertical upward-widening tapered glass tube and an internal float as primary measuring parts. Upstream fluid creates differential pressure to elevate the float. Force balance among dynamic lift, buoyancy, viscous force and gravity fixes the float equilibrium height. Flow rate correlates linearly with float height and flow passage area, so float position is adopted for flow metering.
