The measurement principle of the AV550G is based on the zirconia oxygen concentration cell effect. Its core feature is the utilization of zirconia ceramics, which become oxygen ion conductors at high temperatures (typically heated to 650-750°C). When there is a difference in oxygen concentration between the two sides of the sensor (the reference side and the measurement side), oxygen ions migrate directionally, generating an electromotive force (millivolt signal) between the electrodes that is proportional to the oxygen concentration difference. The instrument detects this potential and calculates the oxygen concentration in the sample gas based on the Nernst equation.

The AV550G is primarily used for industrial combustion control and safety monitoring. Its typical applications include: optimizing the air-fuel ratio by real-time monitoring of oxygen content in flue gas in combustion equipment such as boilers, heaters, and kilns, thereby enhancing combustion efficiency and reducing energy consumption; monitoring oxygen concentration in reactors or pipelines in process industries such as chemical and petrochemical plants to prevent explosion risks or ensure process safety; additionally, it is commonly used in occasions requiring inert gas protection, such as air separation for nitrogen production and food packaging, to ensure that the oxygen content in the environment meets process requirements.
