The measurement principle of the WE440 phosphate analyzer is based on the ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method. Under acidic conditions, phosphate in the water sample reacts with ammonium molybdate to form phosphomolybdate heteropolyacid, which is subsequently reduced by ascorbic acid to a blue phosphomolybdenum complex. The instrument determines the phosphate concentration by measuring the absorbance of this complex at a specific wavelength (typically 660 nm or 880 nm) and calculating the concentration according to the Lambert-Beer law.
