1208C

The Rosemount 1208C is essentially a non-contact 80 GHz radar level meter, with its core using FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) technology. The device emits microwave signals with linearly changing frequency toward the liquid surface. By comparing the frequency difference (difference frequency) between the reflected and transmitted waves, it accurately calculates the distance from the antenna to the liquid surface, which is then converted to level height. For open channel flow measurement, it is based on the level data combined with built-in weir/flume flow formulas (such as the Parshall flume formula) to automatically calculate the instantaneous flow rate.

Water/wastewater applications

The Rosemount 1208C is primarily designed for level and open channel flow monitoring in water and wastewater treatment, utilities, and process industries. Typical applications include continuous level measurement of filters, reservoirs, and pump station sumps in water and wastewater plants, as well as flow metering of weirs/flumes (such as Parshall flumes). With IP66/68 protection and PVDF corrosion-resistant housing, it is also suitable for harsh outdoor environments such as rivers and reservoirs, meeting requirements for anti-submersion, explosion-proof, and drinking water contact compliance.
