The measurement principle of Rosemount 8721 sanitary sensor is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When the conductive process medium flows through the excitation magnetic field inside the sensor, it will cut the magnetic field lines and generate an induced electromotive force in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic field and the flow direction. The magnitude of this electromotive force is directly proportional to the fluid flow rate. After a pair of measuring electrodes on the sensor tube wall detect the voltage signal, the accompanying transmitter converts it into a linear electrical signal proportional to the volumetric flow rate, thereby achieving flow measurement.
