Diffused silicon piezoresistive sensors work on the piezoresistive effect. Doping and diffusion are performed along specific crystal orientations of single-crystal silicon wafers to form strain resistors, which constitute a Wheatstone bridge. Pressure variation unbalances the bridge, generating an output signal linearly proportional to pressure.
