Based on the thermal‑diffusion measuring principle, the medium flows past a heated RTD (Pt100) and carries away part of the heat. The mass flow rate is determined by monitoring the cooling effect. The flowmeter incorporates two Pt100 RTDs installed within the measuring zone. One Pt100 RTD measures the actual fluid temperature, while the other Pt100 RTD is heated. The temperature sensor monitors and records the actual process temperature. The heated RTD adjusts its temperature by controlling the current flowing through the heating element, maintaining a constant temperature differential relative to the prevailing process temperature. The higher the mass flow rate of the measured medium, the stronger the cooling effect, and the greater the current required to keep the temperature difference constant. Therefore, the mass flow rate of the medium can be measured by monitoring the current through the heating element.
