The piezoelectric crystal is installed inside a flat-ended cylindrical plastic housing. When electrically excited, the crystal emits an ultrasonic signal. The ultrasonic signal scans the interface at a frequency of 657 kHz and a beam angle of 6°. The measured parameter is the ultrasonic signal’s transit time, i.e., the time taken for the signal to reach the particles at the interface and return to the receiver. The sensor is equipped with a wiper to prevent fouling from accumulating on the sensor membrane.
