CCS120

The amperometric sensor converts the loop current into a total chlorine measurement value. The dual-electrode assembly, immersed in the electrolyte, is in contact with the process medium through a membrane. The two electrodes consist of a platinum working electrode and a counter/reference electrode coated with silver. Chlorine compounds in the process medium diffuse through the membrane. A constant polarization voltage applied between the two electrodes triggers an electrochemical reaction of the chlorine compounds at the working electrode. The resulting current serves as the primary measurement signal, which is the basis of the amperometric measurement principle. Within the sensor’s measuring range, the current is proportional to the total chlorine concentration and is largely unaffected by pH. The primary measurement signal is converted by the sensor amplifier into a 0 ... 5 μA output signal, which is then displayed on the transmitter.

The CCS120 analog sensor is designed for standard total chlorine measurement. It provides reliable measurement values even in the presence of fluctuations in flow rate or conductivity, enabling effective control of the disinfection process and helping ensure microbiological safety of the water. The sensor also offers long calibration and maintenance intervals, helping reduce maintenance costs.
