Measuring principle:
The ultrasonic measurement principle is based on the time-of-flight (ToF) method, measuring the distance between the reference point and the medium surface. The sensor emits ultrasonic pulse signals toward the material surface. The pulse signals are reflected from the material surface and received by the sensor, and the transmitter measures the time difference (t) between signal transmission and reception. Based on the time difference (t) and sound velocity (c), the distance is calculated as D = c × t / 2. Based on the distance (D), the level (L), volume (V), and flow rate (Q) in weirs or open channels can also be calculated.

The FDU93 ultrasonic sensor is designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids, slurries, sludge, powders, and bulk solids. It is maintenance-free and can also be used for flow measurement in open channels and weirs. Measurement is unaffected by dielectric constant, density, or humidity, while the sensor’s self-cleaning function minimizes the impact of medium buildup on measurement performance. It is suitable for use in hazardous areas, with a maximum measuring range of 25 m (85 ft) for liquids and 15 m (50 ft) for solids.
