Gamma radiation attenuates when penetrating materials, and radiometric level limit detection operates based on this principle. In general, the attenuation is related to the following parameters: material density ρ, thickness d, and the material’s linear attenuation coefficient µ, which depends on the type of radiation source. Attenuation is calculated by the formula: $F_s=e^{(-\mu\rho d)}$. The gamma source and Gammapilot are mounted on opposite sides of the vessel, at the same elevation as the required limit point. For limit detection, “µ” and “d” remain constant; radiation intensity depends solely on the measured medium. • When the radiation path inside the vessel is unobstructed (no medium in the radiation path), the FTG20 achieves its maximum count rate • When the radiation path is covered by medium and gamma radiation is attenuated, the FTG20 reaches its minimum count rate

The FQG63 source housing contains an integrated radioactive source for radiometric level, density and interface measurement. When the source housing is closed, radiation is shielded in all directions to maximize personal safety and ensure reliable measurement. When the source housing is opened and positioned inside the process vessel, radiation is emitted in all directions.
