FMR67

Radar level measurement is based on the Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) principle and uses a non-contact top-down measurement method. The antenna transmits a continuously frequency-modulated signal, which is reflected by the medium surface and mixed with the reference signal to generate a beat frequency. By analyzing the frequency difference, the system calculates the signal travel time and determines the distance to the medium surface. The actual level value is calculated based on the measured distance and the preset empty tank height. FMCW radar technology provides high measurement accuracy and strong interference resistance, making it suitable for demanding process applications, although it has a relatively higher cost compared with conventional level measurement technologies.

Standard

The Micropilot FMR67 is Endress+Hauser’s first 80 GHz radar level transmitter designed in accordance with the IEC 61508 international functional safety standard. It features a drip-off antenna, improved focusing performance, and a narrow beam angle, making it particularly suitable for level measurement in narrow silos. The FMR67 is designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement of powdery to granular bulk solids. Equipped with Heartbeat Technology, it provides intelligent sensor functions for verification and diagnostics. The Micropilot FMR67 can measure in free space with a maximum measuring range of 125 m. Its highly focused beam angle ensures reliable measurement even in vessels with multiple internal obstructions.
