The measuring principle of absorbance measurement is based on the Lambert-Beer law. There is a linear proportional relationship between absorbance and the concentration of the absorbing substance. The light source emits light towards the medium, the light passes through the medium, and a detector at the other end of the medium measures the light penetrating the medium. A beam splitter divides the light into two parts. One part of the light is used for measurement, while the other part is used as a reference to compensate for particles, bubbles, and light source aging. Wavelength selection is performed through filters, photodiodes detect the light intensity, and convert it into photocurrent. Finally, the transmitter converts the photocurrent into absorbance units (AU, OD).
