Measuring principle:
The OLS optoelectronic level switch is used to measure the limit position of liquid levels and is almost unaffected by physical properties such as refractive index, color, density, dielectric constant, and electrical conductivity. In addition, this limit switch can also be used for level measurement in small volumes. The switch consists of an infrared LED and a phototransistor, with the LED light directed to a prism. As long as the sensor tip of the prism is in the gas phase, the light is reflected inside the prism to the receiver. If the liquid level rises and wets approximately 2/3 of the glass tip, the infrared beam entering the liquid is interrupted, and only a small portion reaches the receiver. This difference is evaluated by the electronics and triggers the switching operation accordingly.
