The non-contact radar level/level transmitter is a key instrument utilizing microwave technology for continuous, non-contact measurement of solid material or liquid surface height. It accurately and reliably remotely detects and measures the distance between the material/level in containers, tanks, or silos and a reference point (typically the meter mounting flange). The instrument emits microwave pulses (pulse radar) or frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW radar) signals through the antenna. After the signal propagates to the measured material surface and is reflected, the receiving antenna captures the echo. By precisely calculating the time difference (time domain reflectometry principle) or frequency

Industrial applications

The Rosemount 3408 non-contact radar level/level transmitter uses Smart Echo Supervision™ technology, suitable for level/level measurement and overfill protection. Wireless technology options enable automation in areas where wiring is difficult to cover, while eliminating wiring costs. Intelligent diagnostic functions enable proactive maintenance, while optional Bluetooth® can be used for wired communication, ensuring configuration simplicity. Scheduled manual or automatic verification can be performed at any time without process interruption. Onboard functions allow remote and in-situ verification.
