How it works
pH is a measure of a medium’s acidity and alkalinity. An electrochemical potential develops at the glass membrane of the electrode, which depends on the pH value of the medium. H⁺ ions accumulate selectively on the outer membrane and generate an electrochemical potential, i.e., an electrochemical boundary layer with a potential difference. An integrated Ag/AgCl reference system serves as the reference electrode. The measured voltage is converted into the corresponding pH value based on the Nernst equation.
Key features
• Certified to ATEX, IECEx, CSA C/US, NEPSI, Japan and INMETRO for use in hazardous areas Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2.
• IIoT‑ready: Memosens 2.0 supports an extended memory unit for calibration and process parameters to enable improved trend identification. It lays the foundation for future predictive maintenance implementation and enhanced IIoT services.
• Low operating costs: Supports laboratory calibration and fast on‑line electrode replacement, minimising production downtime and extending electrode service life.
• Robust, low‑maintenance electrode: Long toxic‑diffusion path or optimised ion trap prevents reference electrode poisoning. Large‑area anti‑fouling PTFE diaphragm resists medium contamination.
• The glass electrode covers the full pH measurement range at process absolute pressure up to 17 bar (246.5 psi). For media containing hydrofluoric acid, the optional F‑type glass electrode is available, e.g. for etching baths in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Improved optional salt‑bridge function ensures reliable measurement in low‑conductivity applications such as boiler feedwater.
• Non‑contact inductive signal transmission delivers high process signal integrity.
Typical applications
M The Memosens CPS11E universal digital pH electrode delivers reliable measurement under stable process conditions, and maintains unaffected performance even under extreme pH ranges or in hazardous areas.
This pH electrode adopts Memosens 2.0 digital technology with excellent moisture resistance. It supports laboratory calibration to improve process safety and simplify operation. Calibration and process parameters are stored in the extended memory unit, which strongly supports predictive maintenance strategies.
The Memosens CPS11E features long service life, low maintenance effort and outstanding cost‑performance.
For long‑term monitoring of stable processes: chemical industry, pulp and paper industry, power plants (e.g. scrubber towers, boiler feedwater), waste treatment plants, water and wastewater treatment.
